OK, so currently their cap is f'd, i'm not sure that putting both Krejci and Bergy on heavy incentive deals is a good idea. This isnt like when they signed Iginla to that type of deal when they were legit cup contenders, this will just make more problems down the road.

Good idea? Wait Sweeney has those?

The goal is GLORY DAYS OF 2011, who cares about how it gets done lol. Jacobs family even said during their press conference they are a cap team, and they dont want to rebuild so get ready for the pain.

But hey, got krejci and bergy, plan the parade right?

I don’t see how rebuilding on the fly and remaining competitive is a negative thing.

Blackhawks fans already have it bad and it’s only going to be worse for them the next 4-5 years. You want that?

It isn't when you have a font office capable of doing so. Which the Bruins do not.

EDIT: Glad you used them as an example. It is Bowman's bungling that landed them there in the 1st place. Like Gorton before Chiarelli and Sweeney, Dale Tallon and Kevin Cheveldayoff laid a solid foundation for that team's success.

Take a good look at Chicago. With Sweeney and Neely that is the future. Krejci won't save them from that.

Bringing back Krejci will at least force there hand a bit to move out some money. Last years roster with Krejci instead of Foligno and your not losing to Carolina in the first round.

He's not a world beater by any means anymore but he is still poised when he has the puck and they lacked that last year.

And what the heck is wrong with Bergy, Debrusk and Lysell (to start while Marchy is on the mend) on first line and Krec, Hall, and Pasta on the 2nd line. Sounds pretty good to me...

nothing, except its a salary cap league, and who knows what Lysell will actually bring. They are committed to 65 mil already next year, lets say incentives for Bergy and Krejci are 6 and 5 mill respectively, that leaves 5 mil in cap space to resign Pasta who is gonna be around 10 mil a year, Swayman who should be at least 5 a year, and 1/2 dozen other player to fill the roster, but whats wrong with that?

I don't think they will be anywhere near 11 million in bonuses. I don't even think that would be legal? You can only have up to a certain amount in performance bonuses? I think?

EDIT.

"While performance bonuses count against the salary cap, teams are permitted to exceed the salary cap due to performance bonuses, to a maximum of 7.5% of the Salary Cap.

If a team exceeds the Salary Cap due to performance bonuses, then any amount over the Salary Cap is considered a Bonus Carryover, and counts against the cap in the next season. "

So the max would be around 6 million if i am reading that correct. Honestly, i think they will be around 1-2 million each in bonuses but i am completely guessing.

I'm not expecting those numbers for Bergy or Krecji when all is said and done (not because they aren't worth it but because it's not always about the money). We shall see. And what capfriendly is showing is about $57M tied up after this season. Granted, with a lot of holes but many of those are bottom 6 with overpayment on several. Also, after this season Ullmark can be moved if it makes sense.

I would also expect a more "normal" cap increase after this season vice the paltry $1M (perhaps $2-3M).

Yeah, I am expecting something around $2.5-4M total package each.

Status quo. We can be a bubble team, a first round exit and not really have a plan for the future other than a constant "retool".

As long as we are competitive, thats all that matters. No serious ambitions for a cup, but if we make it to the show, we can always rely on the trusty "you never know what will happen in the playoffs"

We will be experiencing what the current blackhawks team is facing here in a couple years. Its just a matter of time. Once Neely and Sweeney dont have their magic core to build around and zero center depth, you will realize that the glass isnt half full, its full of piss.

You finally see the light and the brilliance of this management team.

But seriously, after the brutal first part of the season due to recoveries and if, IF Bergy and Krejci sign...and IF Sweeney can get rid of some dead weight and sign a decent piece (and no, the track record is dismal on that prospect but hey, even a blind squirrel finds nut once in a while). This team "could" be competitive this year. I'm just not ready to be all doom and gloom before the season even starts.

The wild card in all this is a coach who maybe gets more out of the young guys than we have seen thus far...anything is possible.

I would much rather have them retool on the fly so that you have young players coming into a winning environment. Learning how to win. There are too many teams in the NHL that have been stuck at the bottom of the standings even though they are picking top 5 every year.

The Bruins have been able to consistently win while developing mid to late round 1st round picks into the new core. I don't understand why that isn't appreciated more.

They have a new core started and they didn't have to do it by bottoming out. IE the Avalanche or The Blackhawks, or the Edmontons.

What? Why the frank would they sign for that? their spouse's would have a fit.

And don't tell me it's to win a Cup. Team starts off in the crapper with significant injuries. Would be lucky to make the playoffs.

Exactly. They are already saying Bergy wants 7 mil. So.. Krecji at 5? 2 mil in cap space right now. It’s math. You dont think someone else would pay Bergy 7
